1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Ownstory (“Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. These terms apply to all users, including visitors, individuals, and organisations.

2. What Ownstory Is

Ownstory is a private story platform that allows you to create personal story pages — for gifts, milestones, memories, and meaningful moments. Stories can be linked to a unique QR code, shared selectively, and kept privately for yourself or with chosen others.

Ownstory is not a social network. There are no public feeds, followers, or discovery mechanisms. Your story pages are private by default.

3. Your Account

To use certain features, you must create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password. You must not share your credentials or allow others to access your account.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Ownstory. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

4. Content You Create

You retain full ownership of all content you create on Ownstory — including text, photos, videos, and voice notes. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your content.

By uploading content to Ownstory, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, display, and deliver that content solely for the purpose of operating the Service on your behalf. This licence ends when you delete your content or close your account.

You are solely responsible for the content you upload and share. Content must not violate any applicable laws or third-party rights.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Upload content that is illegal, harmful, abusive, or infringes third-party rights
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or other users' data
• Use the Service to spam, harass, or impersonate others
• Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract data from the Service
• Circumvent or tamper with any access controls or privacy features

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these guidelines.

6. Organisations

Organisations that use Ownstory to create story pages for employees or team members agree that all content issued is accurate, lawful, and authorised. Once a story page is issued and accepted by a recipient, the issuing organisation may not edit or retract it.

Organisations must not use the Service to issue misleading, discriminatory, or defamatory content.

7. Physical Products

Ownstory may offer physical products (such as printed frames, keepsakes, or QR gift items). All purchases are subject to separate product terms, pricing, and shipping conditions displayed at the time of purchase.

Digital story pages attached to physical products remain subject to these Terms of Service.

8. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect and use your information. By using the Service, you consent to those practices.

9. Intellectual Property

The Ownstory name, logo, design, and platform are owned by Ownstory and its licensors. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our branding, trademarks, or intellectual property without prior written consent.

10. Termination

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or if continued use poses a risk to other users or the platform.

Upon termination, your story pages and content will no longer be accessible. You may export your data before closing your account.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Ownstory is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of your use of the Service, including loss of data, loss of profits, or service interruptions.

The Service is provided “as is” and we make no warranties, express or implied, regarding its reliability, availability, or fitness for a particular purpose.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by displaying a notice within the Service. Continued use after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
