Vijayakanth (Narayanan Vijayaraj Alagarswami) (1952–2023) was a celebrated Tamil actor, politician, and philanthropist. Fondly known as “Captain”, he acted in over 150 films, earning fame for his patriotic and justice-driven roles. Beyond cinema, he founded the political party DMDK in 2005 and served as Leader of the Opposition in Tamil Nadu Assembly. Respected for his honesty, simplicity, and dedication to people’s welfare, Vijayakanth remains a beloved figure in Tamil Nadu’s cultural and political history.
